Overview
In 1930, the olive mill of the Pera Gitonia parish was moved from the basement of the Agros Primary School to the traditional building that is now housed next to the church of John the Baptist. This manual system with which the olive growers used to get their oil is in good condition. There is the wine press, the grindstone, the sieves, and along with other tools and objects, they constitute a small Folk Art Museum. The house is built with stone, wood, and the roof is tiled. The whole project was done with the guidance of the Department of Antiquities. A similar olive mill for the parishioners of Panagia Agros, was located until 1949, next to the fountain of Kaura. It was dismantled for the construction of the electrical generator of Brasidas Irinarchos and moved between the church of Panagia and the elementary school, where the millstones still exist.
